Siliguri, 16th September: CPI(M) Siliguri Area Committee No. 04 submitted a memorandum to the Assistant Engineer of the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL), Milanpally Sector, on Wednesday, alleging frequent power cuts in several parts of the city and demanding prompt action to address various electricity-related issues.
The committee alleged that areas including Deshbandhupara, Tikiapara, Babupara and Milanpally have been experiencing frequent interruptions in power supply. According to the committee, the disruptions are causing difficulties for students in their studies, while elderly and sick residents are also facing problems.
Although repair work has reportedly been cited as a reason for the disruptions, the committee said the issue has continued for a long time, causing inconvenience to residents.
The committee also raised concerns over branches of trees hanging dangerously over electricity lines at several locations in the city. It further pointed out that transformers are in a dangerous condition at some places.
The committee requested that the concerned areas be inspected at the earliest and that necessary measures be taken to prevent accidents in the future.
