CPI(M) protests surge in electricity bills in Siliguri

Siliguri, 24th May: The Communist Party Of India (Marxist) (CPIM) Darjeeling District Committee took to the streets to voice their discontent against the escalating electricity bills.

On Friday, a procession commenced from Vishal Cinema Hall on Sevoke Road, traversing to the electricity department (power house) to submit a memorandum. Later, as the gate was opened, the memorandum was submitted. The committee members have vocally demanded an immediate reduction in electricity bills.

A CPI(M) leader highlighted the surge in electricity demand alongside the escalating bills, attributing the burden to residents of the state. He added that the central and state governments are deemed responsible for this issue, which fueled the protest.
