CPI(M) protests at Naxalbari BDO office over deletion and pending status of valid voters’ names

Naxalbari, 02nd March: CPI(M) staged a protest at the Naxalbari Block Development Officer (BDO) office on Monday over the deletion and pending status of several valid voters’ names in the voter list. The protest led to tension at the BDO office.

Sources said CPI(M) workers and supporters attempted to enter the BDO office while officials were processing pending voter cases. Police intervened to stop them, which resulted in heated arguments between the protesters and police personnel. The demonstrators then continued their protest outside the office gate.

CPI(M) leader Gautam Ghosh alleged that names of minority voters were deliberately deleted or marked as pending. He claimed that despite residents living in Naxalbari for years, the Election Commission carried out these actions under the direction of political leadership.

The protest highlighted local anger over the handling of the voter list and the pending status of numerous valid voters.
