Siliguri, 14th January: COVID-19 vaccines reached North Bengal Medical College and Hospital from Kolkata on Wednesday night. The vehicle was parked at the medical outpost during the night.
Reportedly, the vaccines have been stored at a temperature of 2-8 degrees. The unloading work started inside the store of the medical college on Thursday morning. They are being sent in vans to different districts including Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, and Alipurduar from NBMCH.
As per the report, 18,000 doses have arrived for Darjeeling, 18,500 for Cooch Behar, 12,500 for Alipurduar, 16,500 for Jalpaiguri, and 3,500 for Kalimpong.
The first immunization programme is scheduled to begin on January 16. Doctors and health workers will be vaccinated in the first phase. Cold chains have already been stored in various places, which will be used to save time while giving the antidote.
