Siliguri, 27th April: Due to the growing number of coronavirus cases, the Mirik Lake and Garden have been closed for tourists. Letters are also being sent to the owners of all tourist lodges and hotels in Mirik to shut down their business.
Several tourists visit Mirik Lake every day and check-in hotels. This significantly increases the chance of community transmission. Hence, the administrative officials and Mirik Municipality held a meeting and came to this decision.
Municipality Chairman LB Rai said that Mirik Lake is being closed to contain the spread of the virus. Instructions will be given to close every hotel and tourist lodge.
