COVID-19 second wave: Darjeeling district reports 20 deaths in last two days

Siliguri, 01st May: The number of deaths due to coronavirus in Darjeeling district is increasing at an alarming rate.


According to the District Health Department, 20 people died from COVID-19 in Siliguri from Thursday night to Friday night. However, many of the deceased were residents of another district. Of the given figures, 16 died in North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, 01 in-home isolation and 03 in a nursing home. Most of the people who died were having comorbidities (having more than one underlying health- related conditions present in them at once).

As per the report of the District Administrator on Friday night, in the last 24 hours, 337 people were infected with the virus in the Darjeeling district and 214 in the Siliguri Municipal Corporation area. On the brighter side, 67 people have returned home beating the illness.
