Siliguri, 14th August: Independence Day is celebrated with great pomp and enthusiasm every year and national flags fill Siliguri’s markets ahead of this day. However, this year, due to the ongoing pandemic, the traders are facing deep losses as only a handful of customers are spotted in the market.
While various shops in Hillcart Road, Sevoke Road, and Bidhan Road have already been decorated with a variety of flags, scarce to no customers were spotted purchasing them.
In this context, the traders stated that every year before August 15, a variety of goods are sold, however, the scenario is completely different this year.
