Siliguri, 15th September: In light of the coronavirus outbreak, religious gatherings have been restricted to prevent further spread of coronavirus infections. Due to this, almost all festivals this year were celebrated on a low-key.
Likewise, Vishwakarma Puja which falls on September 17 will also be celebrated modestly owing to the ongoing pandemic. While every year the day is celebrated across the city with much pomp and enthusiasm, the scenario is expected to be completely different this year.
In this context, the idol traders stated that since very few pujas will be organized at the hills, this year, no idols will be transported.
A trader stated that fewer idols have been made this year in view of the pandemic. They fear of facing deep financial losses due to the lesser number of pujas this year.
