Couple from North 24 Parganas sells infant son to buy an iPhone

In a shocking incident, a couple from the Barrackpore sub-division of North 24 Parganas district allegedly sold their eight-month-old son to purchase an iPhone. The couple in question has been identified as Jaydev Ghosh and Sathi, who had a desire to acquire an expensive phone solely for the purpose of creating Instagram reels while traveling across Bengal.

The heart-wrenching situation came to light when their neighbors noticed some peculiar changes in the couple’s behavior. Despite their eight-month-old baby being missing, the parents displayed no signs of uneasiness, worry, or anxiety. Suspecting something amiss, the concerned neighbors confronted the couple, and under pressure, the mother eventually confessed that she and her husband had indeed traded their infant to gather money for buying the iPhone, which they intended to use for showcasing their travel experiences across various parts of the state.

Apart from the infant, the couple also has a seven-year-old daughter. According to reports, both the mother and the individual who bought the child have been taken into police custody. What is even more shocking is the revelation that prior to their eight-month-old toddler, the father had attempted to sell his seven-year-old daughter as well. At present, the police are diligently searching for the father, who is evading authorities.
