Siliguri, 29th May: The officials of NJP police station have arrested a couple for fraud under the deception of providing jobs in the Vande Bharat train. The accused couple has been identified as Saurabh Kumar Roy and Sudha Kumari Roy.
According to the information, the couple would roam around NJP railway station looking for unemployed individuals and then allegedly scam them in the name of providing jobs in Vande Bharat Express. Muhammad Hasim Ali, a resident of ward number 38 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, after becoming a victim of fraud, lodged a written complaint against the said couple in NJP police station.
It is has been alleged that the accused couple had demanded Rs 1 lakh from Hasim Ali in exchange for a job opportunity. However, after paying some amount, the victim became suspicious and refused to pay the rest. Nevertheless, the couple persistently tempted the victim with various offers under the pretext of employment.
On the other hand, the youth called the said couple to NJP on Tuesday to receive the money. As soon as the couple reached the spot to collect the money, the youth caught them and handed them over to the police of NJP police station. On Wednesday, both the accused have been presented in the Jalpaiguri court. At present, the police officers are engaged in a detailed investigation of the entire incident.
