Siliguri, 29th November: The cops of the Siliguri police station successfully arrested a couple involved in snatching. The arrested couple has been identified as Bappi Karmakar (40) and Sanchita Karmakar (39). It has to be noted that several incidents of snatching came to light from Siliguri and the Siliguri Metropolitan Police have been continually under public scanner.
According to police sources, on the afternoon of November 9, an incident of gold chain snatching from an elderly woman surfaced from the Deshbandhu Para area of SMC’s Ward No. 30. Following the incident, Abhijit Sarkar, son of the elderly woman, filed a written complaint in the Siliguri Police Station. Based on the complaint, the cops of Siliguri police station launched an investigation and gained information about the notorious couple.
Subsequently, the police conducted an operation and arrested the couple from the Kawakhali area on Tuesday evening. Following the arrest, the police also recovered the snatched gold chain. On Wednesday, the couple was produced before the Siliguri court. Sources revealed that the Siliguri police station will urge the court for a TI parade of the arrested couple.
