Kolkata, 23rd March: West Bengal confirmed its first coronavirus death after a 57-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment and died at a private hospital in Salt Lake, Kolkata today. With this the death toll in India has increased to 8. The man allegedly had no foreign travel history. Three of his nearest family members are currently in hospital isolation. Their test reports are yet to arrive.
As per the report, the deceased was a resident of South Dumdum. He returned to Kolkata from Bilaspur few days ago. According to sources, he was admitted to a private hospital in Salt Lake, last Saturday with flu-like symptoms and breathlessness. He was then tested positive for Covid-19.
