Cooch Behar, 20th July: In light of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Cooch Behar, the administration has decided to extend lockdown till July 27.
Despite repeated reminders to stay home, several people are still being sighted in different parts of the city, deliberately breaching the lockdown restrictions. Besides, several shops were spotted disobeying the lockdown protocols and functioning normally post the allocated time (7 am-10 am).
Operations were carried out later and shops were shut down on behalf of the police and the Sadar subdivision administration. The police also publicly punished several auto and e-rickshaw (toto) drivers on the charge of breaking lockdown and made them do squats and sit-ups in the streets.
