Cooch Behar, 16th November: Cooch Behar District Administration and Debuttor Trust Board have geared up to take a special initiative to stop the death of turtles in Shiva Dighi of Baneshwar in Cooch Behar.
It is to be noted, report of a turtle’s death surfaced on Tuesday. Following this, there was a stir in the area and the locals complained that around seven turtles fell ill and died over the last month. Taking the matter gravely, a meeting was held yesterday by the district administration and accordingly, a team of representatives took stock of Baneshwar Shiva Dighi this morning.
Reportedly, to prevent the death of turtles, water sample from the pond will be sent for examination. And the cause of the death or contamination will be thoroughly investigated by a team of experts.
