Siliguri, 07th December: On Wednesday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee instructed Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb to deliver water to Sebdella Jote village of Naxalbari, after arriving at Bagdogra airport. Within five hours, water was delivered to the residents of the said village.
Reportedly, acting upon the instructions of the CM, two water tanks of Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) reached the area, much to the delight of the locals. Following this, the residents collected water from the tanks. However, the residents are of the opinion for a permanent solution to the water issue.
In this regard, Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh stated in alignment with the orders made by the CM, two water tanks were sent to the area. He further assured of a regular supply of water as the PHE department is actively working to resolve the issue. Furthermore, he stated that, in addition to this, several developmental works were done in the Hatighisa area and more will be planned in the future.
