As petrol prices continue to burn holes in the public’s pocket, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was seen riding on an electric scooter in Kolkata on Thursday, protesting against the same.
The TMC supremo had attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government over the rising fuel price, and alleged that the centre will reduce the prices only for few days ahead of elections.
While the state has offered a VAT cut of Re 1 on petrol and diesel, the CM has now offered an alternative mode of transport to people. Banerjee reached Nabanna on the electric scooter and blamed the Modi government for putting such excessive pressure on the common man.
Meanwhile, petrol was sold at Rs 91.20 per litre in Kolkata today. In Mumbai, the rates crossed the 97 mark.
