Siliguri, 18th September: Taking a jibe at State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after BJP’s rally was stopped today, State BJP General Secretary Sayantan Basu said, “instead of Switzerland, CM has turned Siliguri into Mecca.”
It is to be noted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a Maha rally in Siliguri today. The party was likely to hand over a memorandum to the Siliguri SDO against the increasing rate of violence against women in the state. However, the rally was obstructed midway by the police shortly after it commenced.
In this context, Sayantan Basu stated that BJP activists cannot be stopped in this way. He criticized the role of the Banerjee regarding the violence in the state.
