Islampur, 19th July: After a case of rape and murder of a student surfaced in Chopra, an atmosphere of tension was witnessed in the entire area.
As per the report, on Saturday night, a teenager was raped and murdered after she was allegedly kidnapped from her house. The girl recently appeared for her secondary board examination.
Condemning the heinous incident, the locals blocked the national highway and set several government buses and police vehicles on fire, on Sunday. Meanwhile, Islampur police reached the spot as soon as the news was received. The agitated mob also pelted stones at the police. To bring the situation under control, the police resorted to lathi-charge and fired tear gas shells.
The victim’s family alleges that the girl was missing since last night. After searching many places, her body was found lying under a tree. They allege that the teen was raped and murdered after being poisoned.
In this context, the Convenor of Daspara Gram Sabha Committee, Asim Barman stated that the police have been notified regarding the suspect involved in the incident.
Reportedly, two bicycles, Aadhaar card, two umbrellas and mobile phones have been recovered from the crime scene. On the basis of the evidence, the police have launched further investigation
