Siliguri, 27th March: CITU held a rally in Naxalbari in support of the bandh called by the All India Trade Union on March 28 and 29.
It has been learned that the rally was taken out from the CPIM party office in Naxalbari on Sunday which toured around different areas. CPIM district secretary Gautam Ghosh, Naxalbari area committee secretary Bikash Chakraborty, Raju Saha, and others were present at the rally.
CPIM district secretary Gautam Ghosh said that the strike was called in support of 12-point demand, including keeping the Plantation Labor Act of 1953 unchanged and giving land ownership to tea workers. He criticized the CM’s North Bengal tour and the rise in prices of daily necessities, petrol, and diesel.
