Bagdogra, 23rd August: A man was arrested at Bagdogra Airport for attempting to smuggle cannabis on a flight to Bangalore. The accused, identified as Bishwajit Roy, a resident of Sitai in Cooch Behar, was apprehended by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) during a security check at the Bagdogra Airport.
According to reports, the CISF officials intercepted Roy and found 4 kilograms of cannabis in his possession. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth several lakhs in the market. Following his arrest, Roy was handed over to the Bagdogra police.
On Friday, the accused is scheduled to be presented in Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court. Meanwhile, the police have launched a thorough investigation into the incident.
