Siliguri, 31st May: A child in Siliguri’s Ward No. 34 tested positive for the novel coronavirus shortly after a woman, of the same ward, was detected with the virus.
As per the report, the woman had recently returned from Chennai after undergoing a kidney treatment. When she tested positive for the virus, she was immediately admitted to the COVID hospital in Matigara.
According to the information, the aforementioned child and his family had shared the same vehicle with the infected woman. Doctors speculated that he might have extracted the virus then.
Darjeeling District Magistrate S. Ponnambalam informed that after swab (saliva) tests of the child and his family members were taken on May 27, the report of the child came back positive today. At the moment, the child has been admitted to the COVID Hospital.
