Siliguri, 22nd August: An alarming incident surfaced where a child was rescued after being offered to drink drug-laced water and kidnapped in Fatapukur.
According to reports, on Wednesday, Rudra Sutradhar, the son of local resident Balai Sutradhar, was playing on the field in Shaktigarh. Based on Balai Sutradhar’s statement, Rudra was heading home after playing when a Maruti van stopped beside him. The driver offered Rudra water, which the child drank and subsequently lost consciousness.
When Rudra regained consciousness, he found himself inside the Maruti van. The driver, who had stepped out to use the restroom, had left the vehicle unattended. During this, Rudra fled the van and sought help from a local resident who then took Rudra to the Fatapukur Traffic Guard.
Meanwhile, the driver abandoned the Maruti van and fled the scene. Later, Rudra was safely brought to the NJP police station and reunited with his family. The child’s father, Balai Sutradhar, is gripped with panic by the incident. At the present, the NJP police have launched a thorough investigation into the case.
