Siliguri, 11th June: Following the sequence of initiatives undertaken by various voluntary organizations and police administration to alleviate the youths from the traps of drugs, a one-day football tournament was organized today in Ward No. 45 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation by Chhat Ghat Kali Puja Committee. The tournament which aimed in driving the interest of youths toward sports, saw the active participation of 16 teams.
According to reports, the winning team of the tournament will be awarded a cash prize of rupees 25,000 along with a trophy. Additionally, the runners-up will receive a cash prize of 15,000 along with a trophy. There are also awards for fair play, man of the match, and top goal scorer.
Today, the tournament witnessed the presence of Siliguri Junction Traffic Guard IC Subir Dutta as the Chief Guest. Speaking at the occasion, Shiv Shankar Sonkar, a member of the Puja Committee, stated that, a one-day football tournament is being organized for the past two years to attract the youths towards sports.
