News Desk: Chaos broke out at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata when spectators, despite purchasing expensive tickets, could not get a clear view of football star Lionel Messi. Frustrated fans began vandalising parts of the stadium, and the situation quickly escalated, forcing Messi to leave the field earlier than scheduled.
Messi had arrived in Kolkata on Friday night, and thousands of fans gathered on Saturday at the stadium hoping for a glimpse of him. Unable to see him properly from the galleries, fans grew agitated, throwing water bottles towards the field and causing damage in multiple areas.
The disturbance created a tense environment in the stadium premises. For security reasons, Messi was escorted out of the stadium before the planned schedule. Reports also indicated that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was expected to visit the stadium the same day, but Messi was removed beforehand for safety precautions.
