Central trade union federation and farmers’ associations rally in Siliguri voicing several demands

Siliguri, 26th November: In a nationwide demonstration, the Central Trade Union Federation and various farmers’ and agricultural workers’ associations organized a protest march in Siliguri, presenting a 13-point demand.

The march began from Baghajatin Park in Siliguri, traversed through Hillcart Road, and gathered at Mahatma Gandhi More. Protestors raised slogans and held placards demanding action on a variety of issues. Additionally, the protest raised several grievances against both the central and state governments.

The primary demands included the abolition of the central government’s new labor codes, ensuring fair and profitable prices for farmers’ produce, increasing wages for agricultural workers, and curbing the rising prices of essential commodities. The protest also called for fair wages and better housing for tea workers.

Following the march, a memorandum was submitted to the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad, urging the local administration to take up these issues with the relevant authorities.
