Central forces deployed ahead of elections in Kharibari, Naxalbari and Phansidewa

Kharibari, 28th February: Even before the official announcement of election dates, central security forces have begun deployment in the state. Following the publication of the voter list on Saturday, three companies of central forces reached Naxalbari, Kharibari, and Phansidewa areas.


According to sources, one company of SSB from Malbazar has been stationed in Kharibari, while another company has been deployed in Phansidewa. Arrangements have been made for the central forces to stay at JR Hindi High School in Kharibari and the Kisan Bazaar in Phansidewa. Meanwhile, a company of 97 SSB personnel from Sikkim has been deployed in Naxalbari, with accommodations arranged at Naxalbari College.

Police sources stated that from Sunday, these central forces will begin route marches in sensitive booths and border areas of Phansidewa and Matigara-Naxalbari assembly constituencies.
