Naxalbari, 23rd December: A cattle smuggling attempt across the Indo-Nepal border was foiled during the foggy winter season, with three cows and two calves rescued by security forces.
Sources said that in the early hours of Tuesday, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) intercepted smugglers near Bara Maniram Jote by the Mechi River in Naxalbari.
Upon noticing the SSB personnel, the accused fled towards Nepal, leaving behind the cattle.
The rescued animals were later handed over to Naxalbari police. A search operation is underway to trace and apprehend the accused involved in the smuggling attempt.
