Calcutta HC directs WB Police and Pollution Control Board regarding Muharram

During a hearing of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), the Calcutta High Court (HC) Chief Justice Division issued directives to the West Bengal police and the West Bengal Pollution Control Board concerning the observance of Muharram. The HC ordered the police to issue a public notice specifying the timings for beating of drums during the Muharram occasion, which is scheduled for July 29. Additionally, the HC directed the Pollution Control Board to release a public notice specifying the permissible noise levels for the event.
