Siliguri, 19th October: After reaching Siliguri today, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President JP Nadda held a meeting at a hotel in Siliguri’s Sevoke Road with the state and central leaders as well as the MPs and MLAs. During the meeting. Nadda asserted that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) will be implemented ‘very soon’.
“CAA will be implemented very soon. It got delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic,” the BJP President said.
JP Nadda spoke on various issues including increasing the train stoppages. He stated that he has discussed the matter with the Railway Minister Piyush Goyal. The minister has assured to hold a meeting with former MPs of North Bengal on this subject after the Durga Puja.
Taking a jibe at the Mamata Banerjee Government, JP Nadda said that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in the state has employed a “divide and rule policy”. “Unlike TMC, BJP works for development for all,” Nadda said.
Nadda further added, “Modi Ji’s policy is inclusive and for everyone’s development. On the other hand, is Mamata di led government that is working on the idea of divide and rule. The current TMC government in West Bengal has employed a policy of divide-and-rule and only PM Narendra Modi has the ability to take everyone grows together.”
Speaking on the demands of the Gorkhas, the BJP President stated that two things proposed by Gorkha community have been included in the party’s resolution letter.
“As far as our Gorkha society is concerned, I am thankful to them, they have always supported us. We have also kept the two things about them in our resolution letter, one is said to be a political solution and a permanent solution and the other is the recognition of the 11 tribes of Gorkha,” he said.
“We must keep in mind that Backward Commission was given a Constitutional Status, for the first time, by PM Narendra Modi,” he added.
