Buxar train accident: Survivors recalled terrifying moments from the derailment in Siliguri

Siliguri, 12th October: A horrifying incident surfaced where a train accidentally derailed in Buxar, Bihar on Wednesday night. The North East Superfast train was on its way to Kamakhya in Assam from Delhi’s Anand Vihar Terminal via Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal when it met with an accident.


As per reports, several bogies of the train derailed. Eyewitnesses claimed that several passengers were dozing off on their berths and others were in the lavatory at the time of the disaster. Suddenly, a forceful impact occurred followed by darkness and chaos. Initially, it was assumed that the train battery malfunctioned. As a result of the accident, several people got trapped in the berth and windows while some were trapped in the toilets. As per eyewitnesses, they somehow managed to get out of the train and were shocked to spot the bogies of the train derailed.

On Thursday, several passengers at NJP station who boarded the train sustained significant injuries following the accident. Earlier, a special train was arranged to transport the passengers to their destination. This afternoon, about 200 people from Siliguri, Darjeeling, and neighbouring areas were provided with food and water at the at NJP railway station. In addition, medical facilities were also arranged as the passengers described their horrific experience during the derailment.
