Siliguri, 26th June: Siliguri Metropolitan Police achieved a significant breakthrough in the Siliguri businessman Prabhakar Singh’s kidnapping case. The driver, along with the vehicle used in committing the crime, has been arrested. The arrested accused has been identified as Javed Sheikh (26), a resident of an area under the Bhaktinagar Police Station in Siliguri.
According to police sources, a team of Special Operations Group (SOG), Detective Department (DD), and Pradhannagar police station launched a joint operation and arrested Javed from the adjoining area of Siliguri late Sunday night. During the interrogation of the arrested, several vital pieces of information about the kidnapping came to the fore. In this regard, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP), Subhendra Kumar of Siliguri Metropolitan Police affirmed the arrest over a telephonic conversation with our correspondent. Additionally, he stated that the vehicle used in the kidnapping has also been seized.
Today, the accused was produced before the Siliguri Court, in which, remand was sought. Meanwhile, police are on a hunt to nab the other culprits involved in the case based on the information revealed by the arrested driver Javed.
