Burglary at vacant house in Siliguri, cash and gold-silver jewellery worth lakhs stolen

Siliguri, 01st March: Miscreants carried out a theft at a vacant house under Pradhan Nagar police station in Ward No. 46’s Dhaknikata area, decamping with cash and gold-silver jewellery worth several lakhs.


According to information, the family members had gone to Baba Khatu Shyam Temple on Sevoke Road, leaving the house unoccupied for a few hours. Taking advantage of the situation, the accused allegedly entered the house and broke open an almirah.

The miscreants reportedly fled with around Rs 2 lakh in cash along with three to four tolas of gold and silver ornaments.


The incident came to light when the family returned home and discovered the theft. They immediately informed Pradhan Nagar police station.

Police reached the spot upon receiving the information and initiated an investigation into the matter.

Family members stated that the house was vacant for a brief period in the evening, during which the accused stole their years of savings and jewellery. They have demanded that police recover the stolen items and arrest those involved at the earliest.

Police are continuing further investigation based on the complaint lodged.
