Siliguri, 27th January: Goods worth lakhs were stolen from a locked house in Utpal Nagar, Champasari under Ward No. 46 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, on Tuesday night. The incident came to light today morning.
According to Rajesh Prasad, the younger brother of the house owner, on January 13, his elder brother Amresh Prasad went to Bihar for some work. Since then he has been looking after the house. This morning, Rajesh’s mother noticed the main gate’s lock broken and informed him regarding it.
On entering the house, they found that the entire house was ransacked. Rajesh immediately informed the police and his elder brother regarding the incident. Apparently, television, laptop, gold jewellery, motorbike, scooty and other valuables were stolen from the house.
The estimated value of stolen goods is around 10 lakh rupees. The Pradhan Nagar police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
