Siliguri, 21st December: Thieves took advantage of a vacant house to steal cash and silver items, creating panic in the Pakurtala More area of Siliguri.
According to sources, the family had gone to a relative’s house in Madarihat on Friday night to celebrate Kali Puja. On Saturday morning, while checking CCTV footage on their mobile phones, they noticed suspicious activity. The footage revealed that the gate lock of the house had been broken. The family immediately returned home and discovered the burglary.
The burglars had ransacked cupboards and other furniture, stealing cash and silver items. Following the incident, police from the Panitanki Outpost reached the spot and began an investigation into the case.
It is noteworthy that a similar burglary had occurred at the same house nearly a year ago. The repeated incidents have caused fear and concern among local residents.
