Buffalo smuggling foiled at Bengal-Bihar border in Kharibari, one arrested

Kharibari, 16th December: Police foiled a buffalo smuggling attempt at the Bengal-Bihar border in Kharibari, arresting one person and rescuing 18 buffaloes.


According to police sources, Kharibari police were conducting a naka check at Chakkarmari near the Bengal-Bihar border when a suspicious truck was stopped. Eighteen buffaloes were rescued from the vehicle.

The truck driver, Nur Mohammad Ali, a resident of Assam, was unable to produce valid documents and was arrested. The buffaloes were being transported from Bihar to Assam for smuggling.


The accused was produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Tuesday. Police have begun an investigation to trace other individuals involved in the case.
