Jalpaiguri, 23rd March: In a horrifying incident, a BSF jawan of Jalpaiguri Raninagar allegedly drugged his wife and choked her to death. He then went on to hang her body from the noose to clear out any speculations. The deceased has been identified as Rita Yadav (30).
As per the report, Rita married Sanjay Kumar, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, 9 years ago. They also have a 7-month-old daughter.
The deceased’s family alleged that Sanjay had an illicit affair with his sister-in-law, a few years ago. Tension had been hovering over Sanjay and Rita after the latter learned about the affair. Following this, Rita was staying at her paternal house for the last one year. On February 25, she returned to her in-laws’ house in Raninagar, Jalpaiguri.
The family members have accused Sanjay of drugging Rita, choking her to death and later hanging her body from a noose. An autopsy was conducted on Tuesday, following which, the body was handed over to the family.
According to BSF sources, the accused Sanjay Kumar is employed as a constable of the 180th Battalion of BSF. The accused has been detained by the BSF officials. The Jalpaiguri Kotwali police have launched an investigation into the incident.
