Phansidewa, 24th February: In a late-night operation, police arrested one person with 103 grams of brown sugar valued at approximately ₹10 lakh near Gandhi More on National Highway 27 at Ghoshpukur.
Acting on a tip-off, plainclothes personnel from Phansidewa Police Station intercepted a suspicious motorcycle rider and recovered the contraband from his possession. Police sources said the accused was allegedly involved in a planned drug handover from Bidhannagar to Ghoshpukur.
The arrested individual has been identified as Surajit Sarkar, a resident of Bidhannagar. He was later produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court. Police from Ghoshpukur Outpost under Phansidewa Police Station are continuing further investigation.
