Raiganj, 27th April: Based on a tip-off, the Raiganj Police launched operations in various areas of the city and arrested 3 youths, identified as Rahul Mitra, Swapan Das, and Sujan Pal, along with brown sugar.
According to police sources, several complaints had emerged from the past several days regarding an international smuggling chain involved in the illegal sale of brown sugar among the youths in the Raiganj area.
Based on the complaints, the police launched an investigation last night and nabbed a suspect in Raiganj F.C.I. More area. Upon interrogating him, the police were successful in getting hold of the other two gang members.
A motorcycle, 50 grams of brown sugar worth 5 lakh rupees, and a measuring machine were seized from their possession.
The police have launched a further investigation into the incident.
