Brothers turn foes for ancestral land in Siliguri’s Ward No. 44

Siliguri, 15th April: Once bound by familial ties, the bond between the two brothers turned bitter as they became embroiled in a dispute over their ancestral land. A heart-wrenching incident surfaced from Vidyachakra Colony in Siliguri Ward No. 44, where a man hung himself to death after fatally injuring his younger brother over a property dispute.


According to the information, the pursuit of ancestral land turned brothers, Totan Ghosh and Sujit Ghosh, into foes. This morning, their routine disagreements escalated to such as extent that the elder brother Toton attacked Sujit with a sharp weapon injuring him seriously. While a crowd of people gathered in the area, Totan then locked himself in a room and then committed suicide by hanging himself.

Upon receiving the news, the cops of Bhakti Nagar police station rushed to the spot. Sujit was then admitted to a nursing home on Sevok Road in critical condition. On the other hand, police took custody of Toton’s body from the nursing home where the doctors declared him dead and sent it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for postmortem. Meanwhile, the other brother Sujit is grappling with a life-and-death situation in the nursing home.
