Siliguri, 22nd May: An audacious incident of theft has shocked the Madhya Shanti Nagar area adjacent to Siliguri where a group of thieves struck a vacant residence and made off with cash and gold jewellery.
According to reports, the theft occurred around 10 PM on Tuesday night when the owner of the house had gone to the market. During this, the robbers broke in through the windows and robbed the house. Upon returning home, the owner found the house was ransacked and cash worth Rs 20,000 along with gold jewellery were allegedly stolen.
The incident left the homeowner distressed, as he broke down in tears upon discovering the robbery. Meanwhile, the Ashighar police were promptly informed. The officials are currently engaged in a detailed investigation of the entire incident.
