Jalpaiguri, 18th February: A brazen theft at the Sarbajanin Kali Temple in Patakata Colony has sent shockwaves across Jalpaiguri city. Late on Tuesday night, miscreants broke the main gate lock of the temple to gain entry.
According to local sources, the thieves stole gold ornaments from the deity and broke open the cash box, taking the cash inside. The incident was discovered by devotees who came for morning prayers and found the temple gate broken.
The police were informed immediately, and officers from Jalpaiguri’s Kotwali Police Station rushed to the scene. CCTV footage from the temple premises captured the theft, and an investigation has been launched based on the evidence.
