Siliguri, 20th April: A brazen snatching incident in Subhash Pally area of Siliguri has created panic in the locality after two youths allegedly fled with a woman’s gold chain.
According to local sources, the woman identified as Sarbani Pal was at Loknath Mandir on Monday morning, preparing for her daily worship routine. At that time, two youths arrived on a motorcycle and stopped near the temple. One of them entered the premises and asked whether it was a Lakshmi temple.
He then reportedly took out a torn ten-rupee note and attempted to offer it to the deity, which the woman objected to. In a sudden turn of events, the accused allegedly snatched the gold chain from her neck and fled the spot along with his associate.
Authorities from the Siliguri Police Station reached the area soon after being informed and initiated an investigation. CCTV footage from nearby locations is being examined to trace the accused.
