Siliguri, 30th June: A daring robbery took place in a Maruti Suzuki showroom located in Siliguri causing a sensation in the entire city. The incident unfolded in the early hours of Friday morning at the showroom situated in the Shiv Mandir area, falling under the jurisdiction of Matigara Police Station in Siliguri Metropolitan Police.
As per reports, a group of four robbers forcefully entered the showroom premises, brandishing daggers to intimidate the security guard on duty. The guard was swiftly subdued, their hands and feet tied, and the culprits made off with the cash box containing a staggering sum of Rs 24 lakhs. Following their escape, the guard managed to free himself and promptly alerted the authorities.
The showroom owner, accompanied by Matigara police, promptly arrived at the scene to assess the situation. Preliminary investigations were initiated, with the aid of CCTV footage, which captured several individuals entering the showroom premises prior to the robbery. The guard stated that four individuals were directly involved, but police sources suggest that a total of seven individuals participated in the heist, which transpired over a span of approximately 20 minutes. The robbers gained access to the showroom by scaling a wall and escaping via the same route. The Matigara police, alongside the Special Operations Group (SOG), are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
