Siliguri, 27th January: A distressing incident surfaced from Siliguri after the body of retired army personnel was found in a locked hotel room. The deceased has been identified as Parshuram Chhetri, a resident of Kharibari, who had been working as a security guard at a bank on Hillcart Road.
The incident took place at a hotel located near the Mahananda Bridge in the Pradhan Nagar Police Station area. Parshuram had left his home on January 22 to go to his workplace but went missing thereafter. Despite efforts by his family to locate him, there was no trace of his whereabouts. Following this, a formal complaint was lodged at the Khalpara Outpost, and an investigation was initiated.
On the night of January 26, the police sent a photograph of the deceased to the family and his identity was confirmed. After the body was sent to the Siliguri District Hospital, it was later transferred to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s family are in shock as they pointed out the negligence of the hotel management and the absence of CCTV cameras in the hotel. At present, the entire incident is further investigation.
