Siliguri, 19th June: In a recent development, the body of Prasad Nandi Sahni, who drowned in the Mahananda River on Sunday, was recovered from Porajhar on Tuesday. Sahni, a resident of Maharaj Colony in Ward No. 04 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC), had been swept away by the river’s strong current while bathing.
It is to be noted that the water level of the Mahananda River had risen significantly due to continuous rains. Reportedly, on Sunday, Sahni went to bathe in the river but was caught in the current. His family rushed to the scene upon hearing the news, and the administration immediately initiated a search operation.
Despite their efforts, Sahni was not found until two days later when his body was recovered in Porajhar. The family identified the body as that of Prasad Nandi Sahni. Following a post-mortem examination on Wednesday, the body was handed over to the family. The incident has cast a pall of sorrow over the area.
