Cooch Behar, 27th December: Sensation prevailed following the retrieval of a deceased body of a youth from the banks of a river located in the Khapaidanga village of Cooch Behar under the jurisdiction of the Pundibari police station. The deceased has been identified as Prosenjit Sarkar.
As per reports, the locals found the youth’s body under a tree on the river bank earlier on Wednesday and immediately informed the police. The police promptly arrived on the scene and recovered the body. Reports suggest that, on Tuesday morning, the youth had a disagreement with his wife prompting her to attempt suicide by drinking poison. At present, his wife is undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Cooch Behar.
However, following the incident, the lifeless body of the youth has been recovered and sent to the Cooch Behar M.J.N. Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The police have initiated a detailed investigation into the entire incident.
