Siliguri, 28th June: The Detective Department (DD) team in Siliguri has busted a petrol black marketing racket and arrested one person with a large quantity of illegally stored fuel. The accused has been identified as Kamal Das (30).
Acting on a tip-off, the DD team conducted a raid on the Fulbari-Ghoshpukur Road and intercepted a suspicious pickup van. Upon searching the vehicle, officials recovered approximately 1200 litres of petrol.
When asked to produce valid documents, the driver failed to do so. He was arrested on the spot, and the pickup van along with the petrol was seized. The seized petrol is estimated to be worth around ₹1 lakh.
Sources revealed that the fuel was likely being smuggled through the Kharibari route via Fulbari-Ghoshpukur. The accused will be produced before the Siliguri court on Sunday.
