BJYM protests against ex-registrar over alleged wrongful recruitment at North Bengal University

Siliguri, 04th October: The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) protested at North Bengal University on Friday, opposing the alleged wrongful recruitment of temporary workers.

According to reports, despite the Gandhi Jayanti holiday on October 2, temporary workers were appointed at the university. The complaint alleges that the former registrar made several appointments on the last day of his tenure. In response, BJYM members organized a protest march from Gate No. 2 to the administrative building.

Arijit Das, District BJYM President, claimed that the former registrar made these appointments without issuing any public notice, further alleging that the recruitments were done in exchange for money. Das has demanded a CBI investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile, the newly appointed acting registrar, Dr. Nupur Das, stated she was unaware of the recruitment. She, however, confirmed that all hiring processes have been suspended.
