BJP’s ‘Thana Gherao’ over R.G. Kar incident triggers clash with police at Siliguri Police Station

Siliguri, 23rd August: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has escalated its protest in Siliguri as part of a state-wide ‘Thana Gherao’ (police station siege) campaign. Members from BJP’s organizational Mandals two, three, four, and five gathered to siege the Siliguri police station and stage a demonstration.


According to reports, a large police force was deployed with barricades in front of the police station to block the procession. During this, a scuffle erupted between the police and the protestors when they attempted to break through the police barricades.

Subsequently, the BJP members sat down on the road in front of the police station and continued to protest for an extended period. The protest was attended by Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh, Siliguri Organizational District President Arun Mandal, and other party officials.
