BJP’s protest in Siliguri escalates into clash with police

Siliguri, 22nd August: Allegations of rioting and vandalism have emerged following a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led protest in Siliguri. The demonstration, held on Thursday, was organized in response to the R.G. Kar incident and to demand the resignation of the Chief Minister.

Reportedly, the BJP called for a siege of the District Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) office at the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad.

The protest began at Siliguri Baghajatin Park and proceeded towards the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad. Tensions escalated as BJP leaders and activists clashed with the police.

Reports indicate that police barricades were dismantled, and protesters entered the office premises, where the glass door of the building was reportedly broken. The clash resulted in injuries to four BJP workers and a policeman.
